Diverse experiences and perspectives make us who we are

Cintas employee-partners are passionate about providing deeper know how and caring service—and we’re widely recognized for being positive, respectful, motivated, and caring. These characteristics are an important piece of our history and culture, and they’re at the heart of everything we do.

Our diversity programming isn’t limited to ethnicity, nationality, gender or age — it’s also focused on recruiting military veterans and employees with differing abilities. In addition, our robust Management Trainee (MT) program reflects our commitment, with a large number of trainees from traditionally under-represented groups helping us ensure that we tap into the best talent for our leadership pipeline.

We also enrich our product and service offerings by relying on a supplier network that includes women-owned and ethnically diverse businesses. Partnering with these varied suppliers not only bolsters economic inclusion and increases innovation, it also makes us more fully equipped for a changing landscape and helps us better serve our richly varied customer base.

PARTNERSHIPS

Youth Engagement

Cintas is widely known in the industry for providing professional development through our paid Scholar Internship Program. This respected well-rounded program encompasses a diverse group of college students — grooming them for corporate leadership positions, and helping them grow their network and master the world-class business skills they need to be competitive and successful in their careers.

Military Engagement

Cintas is dedicated to hiring veterans, and we take this even further by providing support that helps ensure a successful transition from military service to a career with our company.

In 1990, we established one of the first programs dedicated to military recruiting in corporate America — which has resulted in the honor of being included on GI Jobs Top 25 Military-Friendly Employer list every year since 2005. We’ve also been ranked a Top 100 Military-Friendly Employer for 11 consecutive years.

All of these distinctions are part of our history, with our founder Dick Farmer serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Today, we continue to make recruiting military veterans a top priority by recognizing their special aptitude for servant leadership, resourceful problem solving, and passionate, professional performance.

Disabled Employee-Partner Engagement

At Cintas, we know how important it is to create an environment that embraces the various scopes of creativity, perspectives and experiences all of our partners offer — and we firmly believe that those with disabilities are an underutilized talent market.

A few years ago, we identified the need for a comprehensive assessment of our corporate disability inclusion efforts, and we partnered with ViaQuest to further our commitment to hiring individuals with disabilities. By expanding our programming, we’ve increased our understanding and efforts to hire and work beside employee-partners with differing abilities. Today, our pilot program has proven so successful that we’ve been able to roll out these efforts nationwide.

To date, we’ve achieved:

  • 134 Cintas locations in 110 national cities participating
  • 1,009 Cintas leaders trained on autism and disability awareness
  • 18.85% increase in autism and disability awareness
  • 34.10% decrease in concern about hiring individuals with autism and other disabilities
  • 2,053 community disability support professionals connected to Cintas locations
  • 524 job seekers with disabilities attended Cintas disability focused hiring events since June 2017
  • 483* employee-partners with disabilities hired in fiscal 2019

Our partners have always been our best resource

We also foster inclusion and professional development through our Partner Business Resource Groups (PBRGs) — specifically designed to enhance leadership and interpersonal skills, and expand cultural and gender awareness.

As our founder Dick Farmer believed, Cintas partners will always be our best resource, and our PBRGs allow us to follow in the same vein. These four distinct groups align with our business objectives and help secure our continued competitiveness, while allowing the breadth of experience, skills sets, perspectives and talents of our diverse partners to truly shine.

Women Adding Value Everywhere (WAVE)

With a mission to engage, inspire and develop the female partners of Cintas, WAVE firmly establishes us as a great place to work for women — and also helps us drive total business performance

Relevant, Inspiring Support for Engagement & Empowerment (RISE2)

Dedicated to celebrating our African American partners, Rise2 focuses on the power of working as one — creating a support system and maximizing the contribution of every member.

Veterans-Military Accelerating Leadership Opportunities and Resources (VALOR)

The military’s cultural values of discipline, integrity and teamwork closely resemble the values of Cintas. We’re proud of this fact, and we show it through Valor — a resource group devoted to supporting our military personnel and guiding our military recruiters.

Together Offering Diverse Opportunities & Solutions (TODOS)

Formed to solidify our reputation as a supportive place to work for Hispanics and Latinos, TODOS ensures that our partners are able to capitalize on a wealth of resources, experience a sense of solidarity, and make the most of every opportunity.
