Ethics
At Cintas, our culture is no accident. It is an organic component of our business strategy
and drives the ethical behavior standards followed by every Cintas partner.
Since 1929, when “Doc” Farmer began his family business, which laid the foundation for
the creation of Cintas in 1973, a key to Cintas’ success has been a culture that encourages
meaningful, respectful relationships between the company and its employee-partners and the
commitment to ethics and always doing what’s right. This spirit of teamwork, camaraderie and trust has become
our most important competitive advantage and is a cornerstone of Cintas culture.
Cintas partners reflect four distinguishing characteristics:
1. We are professional.
2. We have high ethical and moral standards.
3. We act with competitive urgency in everything we do — attending to every detail of our
business with a sense of urgency, enthusiasm, professionalism and thoroughness.
4. We have a sense of positive discontent — that is, a spirit of continuous improvement
that is never satisfied with the status quo.
Over the years, we have established strong feedback mechanisms that enable all our partners
to express their ideas and grievances. This is particularly evident in the "Hot Line" program,
in which every employee-partner has the ability to voice concerns directly to the president, if
issues cannot be resolved at the facility level. In this program, all concerns are addressed
personally and in the strictest confidence.
We are thorough in everything we do, and we do what is right, not what is expedient. We have
high principles and do not take short-term gains at the expense of long-term values. Honesty and
integrity are hallmarks of Cintas partners.
