Cintas Rep is Good Samaritan to Stranded Family
John Porter is a Service Sales Representative at Loc. K81 in North Little Rock, AR.
On December 2, 2009, John noticed a stranded car on the side of the road and pulled over to see if the family, which included three young children, needed help. He soon discovered that this family had left their home in Oklahoma with little money and no employment in hopes of starting over in Florida. The father had just lost his job and they were relocating where he had a new job and family in Tampa. But their plans hit a roadblock when their car broke down in Morrilton, Arkansas.
Upon hearing their story, John discovered what was wrong with the car, drove to the nearest Auto Parts store, purchased the necessary items to make the repairs, and bought lunch for the entire family. He then made the repairs himself in the cold wind and rain while the family took refuge in John’s warm car. He even called a relative to bring hot chocolate for the family while they waited.
When John had the car fixed, he filled it with gas and gave the family a $200 gift card to help them on the journey. Cintas discovered John’s incredible act of heroism from a letter written by the family whom he helped that cold winter day.
“Mr. Porter gave his time, effort, heart and money to a complete stranger without hesitation,” the letter stated. “I am up early today to start my new job. It is all due to the generosity of a stranger who will forever be in our hearts.”
Congratulations to John Porter, our Outstanding Cintas Hero.
