Poise and courage save auto crash victim

Stuck in a line of traffic in Simi Valley, California, SSR Chris Carney emerged from his truck to investigate the commotion in the street ahead. Not far away was a man lying on the pavement, bleeding badly from a bullet wound to the stomach. Realizing emergency medical help would be delayed by the stalled traffic, Chris knew he needed to act. Relying on his Cintas provided first aid training, Chris ran back to his truck and returned with a number of towels and gloves. Applying pressure to the wound, Chris was able to stop the bleeding. As they waited for the EMTs to arrive, Chris learned the man had been the victim of a shooting in a domestic dispute at a nearby dental office. Chris’ decisiveness and training very likely saved the man’s life.

Chris Carney After learning of Chris’s heroic actions from his colleagues, Chris’s supervisor decided to nominate Chris for the Cintas Heroes Award. “Anyone else would have done the same thing,” Chris said modestly after learning about the recognition.

Cintas Heroes proudly welcomes Chris Carney, SSR at Location 684 in Valencia, CA, into the ranks of our partners who have gone above and beyond in extraordinary circumstances.
