2009 Nominees - February
Rudy Morazan: Cintas Hero Nominee
Rudy goes above and beyond his daily responsibilities and exemplifies honesty and hard work. Just yesterday, he found over $700 in the pocket of one of his customer's pants. Without being asked if he had found it he went back to the customer to return the money. The customer, Oscar Hernandez, called today to express his gratitude towards Rudy's honest gesture.
Teresa Whitt: Cintas Hero Nominee
On 12/23/08 Teresa Whitt returned home after a day
on her route to discover her house had been broken into. Her boat, dvd system, and ALL of her Christmas
presents had been stolen. Instead of taking off on Christmas Eve, like her Service Manager insisted,
she returned to her route to take care of her customers. Meanwhile the word spread about what had
happened and all the partners gathered enough $$$ for her so she could go and buy all that she needed
for her and her family for Christmas!!!
Elizabeth Richards: Cintas Hero Nominee
During a CPR/FA/AED training class at a customer
site a student in the class had a seizure. Liz did everything she was trained to do; had someone call
911, had someone stay w/student, got CPR mask, covered the student, elevated his legs, talked through
how the student was feeling and waited for emergency personnel.
Kareem Mitchell: Cintas Hero Nominee
Out on the route Kareem stopped at a gas station to
get a snack. As he was checking out, an elderly lady came in and asked the clerk how to check the oil
in her car. Kareem paid for his snack and gladly walked out to help her. After pulling the dip-stick,
he realized there was no oil in the car. Kareem, with out being asked, returned to the convenience store
purchased the amount of oil need, put it in her car, and sent her on her way. The only reason we even
found out about it was because someone had been riding along with him that day and happened to tell us
about it.
Adam Simmons: Cintas Hero Nominee
Recently a group of Cintas partners had the opportunity
to have a fun lunch together. But the fun came to a screeching halt when one partner, Adam Simmons, a
supervisor at Location 63 in Tulsa, noticed another partner was having trouble breathing. Just like he
learned in the training session and video, calm was the order of the day. Adam asked the other partner
if he was having trouble breathing, and when it was determined he was, learned behavior started into
action! While other partners maintained calm in the restaurant, others helped the choking partner to
his feet and Adam began to perform the Heimlich maneuver, a method learned in attendance at numerous
first aid and CPR classes held right at the local Cintas plant over the course of several years! As
this brave partner began to use his skills, out popped a cherry tomato, normal breathing resumed, and
lunch resumed without a lot of additional fanfare. Adam commented later that it was just like in the
training. As soon as he figured out what was going on his training came into use, he walked through it
step by step, and the end result, although sometimes not entirely predictable, came out just like in
the movies! Adam remarked later “I just did what anyone else would do. And the steps just came natural
as I recalled all I had learned.” At least at that dinner, there’s one partner who is very glad that
Adam took the time to learn this skill and had the calmness and certainty about him to put it into
action when it was needed most!
